Field Experiences
ITL 520
I observed Mrs. Gin who is a GenEd English teacher as well as a EL teacher. We discussed her planning process when designing a lesson plan. I began to focus on UDL, MTSS, and the Learning Map and how these methods can shape an effective lesson plan.

This observation was based on the academic and behavioral observations between a general education and SPED classroom. Ms. Ryan and Miss Grothe shared their best practices and offered some advice to an upcoming teacher.

For this field work I taught a lesson plan that I created. It was a co-teach 10th grade English classroom. I planned a lesson using based from standards and reading material that the teachers requested and used The Learning Map template to ensure I was planning and designing curriculum for multiple types of learners.

This observation was a brief insight into the Special Education department. I observed Mr. Adelini, an experienced SPED history teacher who shared the process and importance of IEPS, accommodations, modifications, and classroom management due to a wide range of behavioral and medical needs. ITL 526
This field work required me to teach/present the warm-up portion of a lesson plan I created and receive feedback. There were 4 assistants who watched me present and gave both positive and constructive feedback based on my content, delivery, and inclusiveness.

Based on a 5-day lesson plan I created using The Learning Map template, I taught the class one full day’s lesson. It was a SC7 population with special needs. These students were engaged, social, and productive.
